Spring 2027 dates are open. Two Saturdays remain in May; weekday portrait sessions book about three weeks out.

Commission photography

Pictures made in the hour the light turns.

I photograph weddings, portraits and working studios along the north coast road — long days, few instructions, and files you can actually hand to a printer.

  • Weddings & ceremonies
  • Portraits & families
  • Studios, makers & editorial
Commissions

Three ways to book, priced by the length of the day.

Every band includes the planning conversation, the scouting notes and the edit. What changes is how long I am with you and how many finished frames come back.

Band 01

Full day

Weddings and ceremonies running from preparations through to the first dance.

  • Up to eleven hours, two locations on the same route
  • Scouting visit at the hour we will be shooting
  • Second photographer added on request for ceremonies over 120 guests
  • Unposed coverage through speeches and dinner service

You receive600–800 edited frames in a private gallery, web and print files, four weeks after the date.

Band 02

Half session

Portraits, couples and families who want one place and natural light.

  • Two hours, one location, daylight only
  • Wardrobe and location call a week beforehand
  • Two setups: one quiet and close, one wider with the landscape
  • Children and dogs welcome; no sitting still required

You receive40 edited frames, three fully retouched for print, contact sheet within seven days.

Band 03

Working brief

Studios, makers, hospitality rooms and editorial commissions with a shot list.

  • Half or full day on site, available light plus two battery strobes
  • Shot list reviewed and reordered before the shoot
  • Usage licence for your own web, print and press material
  • Flat-lay and detail frames shot on a portable table

You receive25–60 frames inside ten working days, CMYK conversions prepared on request.

Index

Recent frames, with the conditions they were made in.

A short index rather than a full archive. Each caption notes the light and the hour, because that is usually the question that follows.

How it runs

Four steps, from first message to archived files.

  1. Enquiry and date hold

Send the date and the shape of the day. I hold it for seven days at no cost while you decide, and tell you straight away if I am already booked.

  2. Scout and plan

We walk the location at the hour we will shoot. I note where the light lands, where the wind comes from, and we agree the indoor plan in the same visit.

  3. The day

I arrive before hair and makeup finish and work quietly from there. Two posed sequences at most — group portraits and one for the two of you — then back to observing.

  4. Edit and delivery

A contact sheet lands within a week so you have something to share. The finished gallery follows, with print-ready files alongside the web-sized set.

Delivery & conditions

The practical detail, before you ask for it.

Gallery and web files
Private web gallery with downloadable JPEGs, sRGB, 4000px on the long edge.
Print files
16-bit TIFF in Adobe RGB on request, sized to the print you have in mind.
Turnaround
Contact sheet in seven days. Full edit in four weeks for a wedding, ten working days for a brief.
Raw files
Kept but not delivered. The edit is part of the commission, not an optional extra.
Travel
The coast road and the inland valleys are included. Ferry crossings and overnight stays are quoted before you confirm.
Weather
Every outdoor commission has an indoor alternative agreed at the scouting visit. Nothing is cancelled for rain.
Archive
Galleries stay live for twelve months; files are archived on two drives for three years.
Confirming a date
A written outline and a deposit hold the day. The balance is due the week after delivery.
Questions

Asked before most commissions.

Can we hold a date before we decide?

Yes. Tell me the date and I will keep it clear for seven days with nothing paid. If a second enquiry arrives for the same day, you hear about it before the hold lapses.

What happens if it rains for the whole day?

We photograph anyway. At the scouting visit we pick an indoor room and a sheltered outdoor spot, so the wet-weather plan is a decision we already made rather than one taken in a hurry on the morning.

Do you photograph posed group portraits?

I do, and I would rather do them properly than pretend they do not matter. Send a list of the groups you want in advance; eight or nine combinations take about twenty minutes if someone can help gather people.

Will you work alongside a videographer?

Often. I will speak to them a week out so we agree sight lines, who moves first during the ceremony, and where the audio kit sits. It works best when neither of us is improvising.

How do we get files to a printer or a framer?

Name the frames and the final size and I will prepare files for that output — TIFF for a fine-art printer, or a CMYK conversion if the work is going into a press-printed book or a catalogue.

Can we book only the ceremony?

Yes — that sits inside the half session rather than the full day. Two hours covering the ceremony and the first part of the reception, with the same edit and the same delivery standard.

Enquiry

Tell me the date and the shape of the day.

A few lines are enough to start. I reply with availability, the band that fits and a written outline — not a brochure.

  • Replies within two working days
  • No deposit asked for at this stage
  • Your date held for seven days once confirmed

Your details are used to answer this enquiry and nothing else.
